Nellie Cartwright Bagley, 101, passed away peacefully at her home in Richmond on Sept. 21, 2009, of natural causes. She was born Sept. 2, 1908, in Newtown, Staffordshire, England, the fourth child of Albert Henry and Sarah Ellen Wardle Cartwright. At the age of 2, she and 15 family members came to America as her parents and grandparents were seeking a new way of life. They first settled in Preston, Idaho, then later moved to Franklin and finally came to Richmond in 1922. While residing in Franklin, she and other family members were baptized members of the LDS Church in the mill run. She married Grant L. Bagley, a teacher and businessman, on Aug. 15, 1928, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and they spent their entire married life in Richmond. He passed away in 1949, leaving her a widow for the past 60 years. Through the years, she was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone, Sego Milk and Gossner Cheese companies. She is survived by her two children, G. Richard (Billie Lu) Richmond and LuAnn (David) Monson of Clearfield; 12 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Victor, Provo. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Loene Robinson; and son-in-law Louis Robinson; parents and siblings, Albert, Harold, Arthur, Leonard, Lula and their partners. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 26, in the Richmond 2nd Ward Chapel, 150 S., 100 East, Richmond, with Bishop Robert Whitman conducting. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services, which are under the direction of Independent Funeral Services of Salt Lake City. The family is most grateful to those who have assisted their mother for these many years, especially neighbors Sam and Ann Schropp and Todd and Jesse Blanchard, and the staff of Access-Hospice, with a special thanks to Thelma Roley.
