She was born 7 Dec 1881 in Knox County, Indiana. (I know her stone says 1887, but she started fudging the truth in the 1920's). Her father was William Bachs and her mother was Sophia Stratman. Sophia apparently died sometime between 1881 and 1888. At some point, both Emelia and her older sister Louise went to live families in the community (I guess her father couldn't deal with his daughters after their mother died?). Emelia ended up with the Kahre family.

She was confirmed in the local church (Bethel Church, Freelandville, Indiana) in 1896. In the 1900 Census, she is living with the Charles Kahre family in near Freelandville. She married Earnest Greenlee in 1907 and they are living with his family in the 1910 Census in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is listed as his nearest relative on his 1918 WW1 draft card but they apparently divorced sometime after.

She married Vernon Hudson in 1928. They lived in Indianapolis, at 3126 North Harding Street, until the early 1950's when they moved to Florida.
