Funeral services of Mrs. Lena Bates Adams, 66, of Spout Spring were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home by the Revs. Floyd Wingfield and L.L. Schwemer. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, Va.
The wife of Chaplin W. Adams, she died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday in Lynchburg General-Marshall Lodge Hospital.
Born in Appomattox County, she was the daughter of Rufus Hill Bates and Edmonia Jones Bates. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters Mrs. Ellen Midkiff of Red House and Mrs. Sara Harris of Appomattox; four sisters, Mrs. F.O. Jones, Mrs. C.R. Morton, Mrs. E.T. Sours and Lucille Bates of Spout Spring; two brothers, A.D. Bates and W.R. Bates of Spout Spring, and two grandchildren.
