Mrs. Thornton died 7:05 a.m, Friday, May 21, 2010, at Ozarks Medical Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1923, at Zanoni, MO, to Samuel Fred and Nova Agatha Hutchinson Sanders. Mrs. Thornton was baptized at an early age.
She is survived by six children, Teddy Thornton, wife, Alice, of Nixa, MO, Lyle Thornton, wife, Cheri, of Sparta, MO, Carolene Thornton of Fayetteville, AR, Steve Thornton, wife, Jody, of Marshfield, MO, Drucellon Cowart, husband, John, of Richland, MO, Bruce Thornton, wife, Becky, of Dora, MO, and Charles Ray Thornton, wife, Velvie Gene, of Ozark, MO; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; son-in-law, Jim Smith; five brothers; and five sisters, precede her in death.
Burial was in Hale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hale Cemetery and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
