GOFF, Nancy Gage RENFRO
b: Dec 1821, Kentucky
d: Feb 26 1902, S of Calhoun, Henry Co, MO
bur: Calhoun Cemetery, Tebo Twp, Henry Co, MO
Clinton Missouri, March 1, 1902 - Mrs. Nancy Goff died at the home of her son, William Goff, one mile south of Calhoun, Wednesday morning (Feb. 26, 1902) age, 81. Came with her parents to Henry County in the 1830's. Her husband, Andrew Goff, built the house in which the first county court of Henry County was held. She leaves one son, William, who is in Washington Territory.

(obit from Henry Co. website, used with permission.)

There appears to be a conflict with the above obit and a 1900 death record for Nancy in Washington State.

Nancy and Andrew are in Henry Co in 1850 and 1860. In 1870 Nancy is with children William/19, Mary/16 and Sarah/15 in home of Henry SEIBERT/26 {the farm overseer}. It is assumed that Andrew died between 1860-1870.

In 1880 Henry Co, GOFF Nancy/55/widow/aunt is in home of BRIGGS Thomas Briggs/52/TN/Minister, Caroline F/46/KY, their nephew, HIGDEN J B Higden/21/MO/farmer. and ASHLEY Thomas G/18/MO/farmer.

In 1900 (June 13th) Henry Co MO, Nancy G/78/wd/mother is in home of her son William W., wife Mary, and their 9 children.

It appears son William and family and his mother Nancy moved to Pullman WA immediately after the census, as there is a death record for Nancy there showing she died Aug 8 1900:

Washington, Deaths, 1883-1960
Name: Nancy Goff
Birth Date: abt 1825
Birth Place: Kentucky
Death Date: 8 Aug 1900
Age at Death: 75
Death Location: Pullman, Washington
Residence: Independence

Nancy's son William and family were living at Independence, Pullman WA in 1910, and William died there in 1931, at which time his widow moved back to Henry Co to live with a daughter. It is possible Nancy was buried in WA. as the burial in Calhoun Cem. was based on a death notice that appears to be in error. It may be the news of her death did not reach Calhoun/Clinton paper until 1902. Son William is the only Goff entered in Pullman WA.
Research ongoing.

Note: Nancy's niece and family, Mary Frances (Letimbre) Wright moved by covered wagon to Oregon abt 1879. It may be Nancy and son William and family joined them, or followed, and continued on to Washington. (Niece was dau of Nancy's sister, Elizabeth Renfro who married Mathurin Letimbre.
