Elizabeth Horton Lindsey McKelvey, 89, walked into the opened arms of our Lord, accepting his warm and loving embrace on June 30, 2008 after a brief illness. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bill Harper officiating. The burial will follow at Greenview Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Thursday July 3, 2008 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence.
Elizabeth was the living definition of grace, dignity and charm. In every thought, deed, word, or task, her thoughts were always on the wants and needs of others. Even in the face of her illness, she was worried about everyone else around her. She touched everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Anyone who knew her carries with them a piece of her love that she so readily and feely gave away. Even if you happened to be on the receiving end of one of her clever pranks or comments, it was delivered with love and laughter. She believed in her Lord with all her heart and walked with Him every step she made and her devotion to her Savior was obvious in every single way she lived her life. Her life and love serves as an example of how we all should be. There is one more twinkle in the sky today that will serve as a reminder of the twinkle in her eyes that we loved so much.
preceded in death by her two husbands Donald Lindsey and Robert McKelvey; parents George and Maudie Horton; three sisters Vesta Holliman, Essie V. Horton and Lessie Horton; one granddaughter Beth Mae Grisson.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Cofield; son Donald Lindsey; sister Aubrey P. Richardson; brother Carvel Horton; step daughter Edith June Phillips; step brother Henry Peden; five grandchildren Laurel Lee Holt (Paul), Crystal McClure, Leigh Ann Cofield, Don Ed Lindsey, Russ Lindsey and Beth Elmore eight great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
