According to his death certificate, William had been living in San Antonio since about 1946. He died from liver cancer at the San Antonio State Tuberculosis Hospital.
His death certificate lists his year of birth as 1897, but his marker has 1898. Other, contemporary sources—including the World War I Draft Registration filled out by William himself—all have it as (or suggest it should be) 1898.
