He was a son of Mrs. Beatrice Howell Harris of California. He was a retired farmer, a Baptist, and member of Woodman of the World.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Butt of Falls Church, Va., three sons, Luther E. Harris Jr. and Joseph C. Harris of Chesapeake, and Troy Lee Harris of Appomattox; six sisters, Mrs. Evonne Estes of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Margaret Clark and Mrs. Eula Bowman of California, Mrs. Ann Mercer and Mrs. Pat Earley of Chesapeake, and Mrs. Myrtle Pepper of Virginia Beach; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. in Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, by the Rev. G.C. Harbuck. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
