Lowell Grant Dachenbach, son of Orie Dell Dachenbach and Adda Miller Dachenbach, was born Sept, 6, 1914, in a log cabin in rural Lucas County. He passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 87.
As a young many, he worked in the coal mines of Lucas County and also farmed. Later he worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company until his retirement. He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, and he and his wife, Mary, taught third and fourth grade Sunday School classes for many years.
He enjoyed reading, oil painting, gardening and tinkering with his antique cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a very loving, generous man.
In 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary Poush to this union was born three children. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Chariton, a daughter, Sharon Bebee and husband Ernie of Des Moines; twin sons Lynn and his wife, Eileen, of Knoxville, and Lee and his wife, Pam, also of Knoxville. Lowell is also survived by his twin sister Lola Mantich of Omaha, Neb. and numerous grandchildren , great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24, 2002, at First Church of the Nazarene in Knoxville, Iowa, with burial at Zion Cemetery in Lucas County.
Services were directed by Fielding Funeral Home, Chariton, Iowa.
