Jack Edward Casteel, 70, of Jefferson City, died Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born September 22, 1935, in Marshfield, Missouri, a son of Earl and Minnie (Justis) Casteel, who preceded him in death. Jack was also raised from a toddler by his step-dad: Art Johnson, who also preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Jefferson City High School.

Jack worked for many years for the State of Missouri, where he retired with the Department of Social Services. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was also an Usher and was active in the Trinity Men's Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5; the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693 and the Marine Corp League. Jack also served as an Auxiliary Deputy with the Cole County Sheriff's Department.

He is survived by a daughter: Andrea Schulte (husband Michael) of Lenexa, KS; one brother: Donald Casteel of Russellville, MO; one granddaughter: Madelyn Schulte and one step-brother: Don Johnson of the State of California.

Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors – Jefferson City Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors – Jefferson City Chapel, with Rev. John Hobratschk officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Building Fund.
