Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Forest Lake Church of Christ for a long-time Columbus township resident Mrs. John W. Grubbs who died suddenly at her farm home Wednesday morning, March 10, from a heart attack. She was 74. Richard Moorhouse officiated at the services 15 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Soloist Merle Maher sang two hymns "Rock of "Ages and "Nearer My God to Thee". Mrs. Charles Wells was the organist. Interment was in the Oak Park cemetery.
Mrs. Grubbs was born Clara August Anderson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson on September 20, 1890, in rural Forest Lake, Columbus Township. She grew up here and attended the Republic school in Columbus township.
On June 26, 1912, she was married to John W. Grubbs. Mr. and Mrs. Grubbs lived in St. Paul during the first two years of their marriage and then returned to farm n Columbus township. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of the Forest Lake Church of Christ.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Grubbs is survived by five daughters and three sons. Another son died when he was only five days old. She is also survived by a brother; 36 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
