Veterinarian Beardslee Dies at 55

Owego—Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday for Dr. Russell S. Beardslee, 55, who died yesterday at his home in the Town of Tioga. He had been ill since October.
A practicing veterinarian here for 29 years, Dr. Beardslee was born in Bradford County, Pa., March 26, 1902, son of Ralph W. and Nellie Russell Beardslee. He had lived in Owego from 1919 until moving to the Town of Tioga 13 years ago.
Dr. Beardslee was a charter member and past president of the Owego Lions Club and a member of Friendship Lodge 153 F&AM and BPOE 1039 and the Ahwaga Steamer and Hose Co.
He was past president of the Southern Tier Veterinarian Medical Society and a member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society. He was also director and superintendent of cattle of the Tioga County Fair Association.
Dr. Beardslee was graduated from Owego Free Academy and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. class of 1928. He was a member of First Presbyterian Union Church here.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Drusilla Walters Beardslee; one daughter, Andrea R. Beardslee, and two sons, Walter R. and John A. Beardslee, all at home; his father of Owego and two nieces.
The Rev. Edgar Frank will conduct funeral services at the Richards Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Tioga Cemetery.
