Born in Center, Texas to Josephine Adeline Samford and George Washington Ford, Sr. The youngest of eleven children; his brothers were, William, Jack, Buford, Bernard and Manard; sisters, Maggie, Eliza, Lula, Bulah, Polly and Odessa. After induction on August 27, 1918 he served with the Headquarters Company, 33 Infantry Regiment at Gatun, Canal Zone, Panama. His regiment guarded Gatun Locks, the dam and spillway. The regiment was also engaged in exploring and charting the jungles of Panama. Honorably discharged April 26, 1919. Returning home at wars end he continued to farm and never married. Passed at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas at the age of 61. Buried in the Sandhill Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas.
