CEDAR CITY -- James Russell Barnum, 71, Enterprise, Washington County, died in the Iron County hospital late Saturday of causes incident to age.

A native of Wanship, Wasatch County, Mr. Barnum had been a resident of Enterprise since 1906. He was born April 15, 1872, a son of James and Karen Happuch Russell Barnum.

He married Tracy Hunt in the St. George Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints May 25, 1898. An elder in Enterprise LDS Ward at the time of his death, he had been active in ward activities of his church for many years. He was a farmer and livestock raiser.

Survivers are his widow. Enterprise: four sons: James Lavon Barnum, Orem; Milton Barnum, Morgan County; Milford Barnurn, Central, Washington County; Leon Barnum, Enterprise. Three daughters, Mrs. Edna Sprague and Mrs. Afton Bentley, Pioche, Nev. and Mrs. Melva Jones, Enterprise; 23 grahdchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Enterprise L. D S Chapel by Leland Huntsman, bishop. Friends may call at 250 S. Main St., Cedar City Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m and at the family residence in Enterprise Tuesday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Burial in Enterprise Cemetery will be by Jensen Mortuary of Cedar City,
