"The LaFayette Sun" - March 8, 1893:

Death of Mrs. T. H. Grimmett.

We are much pained to announce the death of Mrs. Thos. H. Grimmett, which sad event occurred at her husband’s home on yesterday (Tuesday) at 1:10 p.m. Mrs. Grimmett has been in poor health for many months and until recently her relatives and friends had hopes of her restoration to health. But the past month has been one of almost steady decline until the end came. Mrs. Grimmett was the daughter of Hon. John C. Towles, deceased. She reached her 48th year and had around her a lovely and interesting family – four daughters and one son. These with the devoted husband are left to mourn her death. Mrs. Grimmett was a Christian and for years she had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church. She was an affectionate and devoted wife and mother, a loving sister and a kind neighbor. A large number of kindred and friends weep over her death. We tender our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
The funeral services, which were largely attended, were conducted this (Wednesday) afternoon at 3 o’clock by Dr. Bledsoe at the Baptist church.

AND...

In Memoriam – Mrs. T. H. Grimmett.

Mrs. T. H. Grimmett, wife of Mr. Thos. H. Grimmett, died at the homestead at 1:10 o’clock p.m., of last Tuesday, March 7th, 1893, in the 48 year of her life.
For many months Mrs. Grimmett had been in failing health and her loved ones saw with much concern her steady decline. The tender and thoughtful devotion of husband and children lovingly ministered to her and anxiously watched for returning health; but love’s clinging hands could not hold her and God took her to Himself in Heaven. The voice of her Savior called for her to come – as He Himself led her through the Valley of the Shadow into the glad light of His Father’s house. Mrs. Grimmett was a woman of many noble and excellent traits of character. She was the beloved wife and the idolized mother of a happy home, of which she was the delight and joy. How sad to know that the happy circle is broken – that mother’s face and voice will be seen and heard there no more. May the spirit of God give comfort to the bereaved husband and children, and guild their steps to the New Jerusalem where there shall be eternal reunion with the dear one who has gone on before them to enter its joys. For many years a faithful member of the Baptist Church, she delighted in the worship of God in His temple – now she hath entered the great congregation above to join the song of the redeemed before the Great White Throne.
