Mrs. Anna Bell (Rake) Funk, wife of Sheriff S. B. Funk, died at her home on Avenue B. on October 2, 1918 after a lengthy illness, death coming suddenly to relieve her suffering. She was 66 years, i month and 4 days old at the time of death. Mrs. Funk was born on August 18, 1852 and was married to Frank Lauer in Pennsylvania. The couple came to Kearney from Shamokin, Northumberland County, Pa. in 1887. Frank Lauer passed away February 24, 1889 and she was joined in marriage to S. B. Funk on November 4, 1899. O the first union there survive two children. E. B. Lauer, of Kearney, and Mrs. Maggie Harrrison also of this city. There were no children by the second marriage.

Mrs. Frank was a woman of most lovable character, was surrounded by a host of friends who now mourn with her husband in her death. She was of true Christian spirit and a church worker up to the time her health became impaired. Her remains have been laid to rest in the Kearney cemetery but her memory will be ever cherished by those lift behind.
