"George Washington Oller was born in Berkley County, Virginia October 22, 1791, the son of Peter and Catherine Welshans Oller.
He was a veteran of the War of 1812. He served in the 4th Regiment of the Virginia Militia.
He married Margaret Ray November 26, 1816 in Berkley County. George and Margaret were the parents of 7 children.
George was a one legged man, having lost a leg when a large tree limb fell across it while he was sitting on a horse. George was living in Jefferson County, Virginia in 1830 and was listed in the 1840 census as living in Concord Township, Delaware County, Ohio.
Margaret Ray died February 8, 1838. George later married his brother John's widow, Catherine Hess Oller McIlvane November 24, 1844. They were happily married for over 30 years. George is buried in Oller Cemetery next to his first wife Margaret Ray. His age at death was listed on his tombstone as 83 years and 8 months."
