Pioneer Iowa Resident Dies at Home of Son Sunday
Services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p. m. In the Mansfield Funeral home for Mrs. Rachnel Stroud, conducted by the Rev.
William F. Baker. Music was furnished by Mrs. Paul Seeger, aecompanied by Mrs. Donald Alstrope.
Pallbearers were Leland Stroud, John Christensen, Paul Richardson, Harold Scott, Lester Thomas and Ancil Dunbar. Interment was In North Grove cemetery.
The following obituary was read:
Rachael Roxanna Hoyt was born in Monona county Aug. 27, 1856. When three years old she came with her parents to North Grove near Hastings where she spent her life with the exception of six years In Illinois when a young girl.
At the age of 32 she joined the Church of Christ but In later year she became a member of the Seventh Day Adventists.
Jan. 31, 1892 she was married to Charles Walter Stroud. To this union were born three boys, Robert Mersyl, Emery Leroy and Emery Edwin; the two younger ones died In infancy.
For the past 30 years she has made her home with her son Robert and family. Beside her son she leaves five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Her undying faith in God has tided her over the many trials and sorrows she has been called upon to pass through.
