Edward H. Asebedo, 82, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at his home in Garden City.

He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Baileysville, Texas, to Juan C. and Petra Hernandez Asebedo.

A resident of Post, Texas, until moving to Leoti in 1960, Mr. Asebedo later moved to Holly, Colo. He then returned to Leoti before moving to Garden City in 1964. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Garden City Farm Center. He attended St. Mary Catholic Church, was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed playing pool, repairing cars and watching western movies.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline, of the home; six sons, Paul Asebedo, Gill Asebedo and Joe Asebedo, and his wife, Rachel, all of Garden City, Leno Asebedo and his wife, Sandra, of Denton, Texas, Johnny Asebedo and his wife, Pam, of Oklahoma City, and Michael Asebedo and his wife, Beth, of Wichita; three daughters, Mary Ann Salazar and her husband, Javier, of Temple, Ga., Florence Salazar and her husband, Eleazar, of Plainview, Texas, and Simona Schwartz and her husband, John, of Garden City; two brothers, Pedro Asebedo of Syracuse, and Frank Asebedo of Dodge City; five sisters, Dora Garcia of Garden City, Sally Ibarra of Plainview, Elvira McLoud of Dumas, Texas, C.B. Ellis of Lexington, Neb., and Carol Romero of Ulysses; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Louis Asebedo; and a sister, Maria Flores.

Vigil service and rosary was at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral Mass was at St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
