Early Easter Sunday morning, on April 17, 2022, God, in His infinite wisdom called from labor to reward, Mother Ethel Miller. Mother Miller's life was one of great faith, prayer, and servanthood.

Ethel was born September 12, 1921, to Robert and Velma Warren in Refuge, Mississippi. She was the eldest of three girls.

She attended Rosenwald School in Southland, Arkansas. When she was 12 years old, both of her parents passed away and she was cared for by her aunt and uncle, Roosevelt and Bertha Kountz in Southland, Arkansas.

Mother Ethel Miller was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Miller on December 5, 1943. Through this union, God blessed them with eleven children – seven daughters and four sons. Mother Miller was blessed to remain a homemaker throughout her 62 years of marriage.

She was a mentor both in the home and in the neighborhood. As an entrepreneur, she was known as the "candy lady." While offering a variety of snacks, she was also offering the good message of her Savior Jesus Christ, and life lessons to all ages. She was a mentor to many and assumed many unofficial titles including the "neighborhood mom" until the end, because she was the only original one left.

Ethel received many plaques, certifications, awards, and citations for her compassion including State Advocate for Silver Hair Registration for Senior Citizens, Medicare Senior Patrol Volunteer, Arkansas 1st Jurisdiction Usher Recognition, and The COGIC Nonagenarian citation under the leadership of Bishop Emeritus Charles Blake. Mother Miller also received congratulatory acknowledgements from President Barak Obama and President Joe Biden.

At an early age, Mother Miller began her Christian journey at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher. She and her husband moved to West Helena where they joined First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H.Y. Ward, and later Pastor Nathaniel Hull. She later felt the call to continue her journey with the Lord at Watson Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Superintendent James Watson, where she served faithfully as an usher and church mother.

Mother Miller will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Miller (2005), and her son, Oscar Benard Miller. Her memory will be cherished by three sons: Clarence Miller Jr., Robert (Maxine) Miller, and Dennis Miller; seven daughters: Laverne Miller, Catherine Watson, Deloris Lee (Albert), Clara Brown (Samuel), Evelyn Olloway (Gilbert), Luella Williams (Willie), and Malinda Watson; thirty-seven grandchildren; sixty-nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and a host of cousins as well as special sons and daughters around the nation.
