THE TIMES AND DEMOCRAT, Orangeburg, SC, 29 Aug 2006:

North - Marjorie A. Barber, 82, of North, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m, Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Bull Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Wells and the Rev. Don Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Carroll Arant, Chris Arant, Chip Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Cliff McKinney, Olin Hayden Jr., Ricky Cain and Patrick Fischer. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Bull Swamp Baptist Church, and Paul Jones, Roland Williams and George Chavis.

Mrs. Barber was born in Orangeburg County, a daughter of the late Jacob C. and Sallie Amaker Arant. She was a member of Bull Swamp Baptist Church. She was retired from Stone Manufacturing and was married to the late C.B. Smith and the late John P. Barber.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Ray (Mary Ann) Smith, and Tony (Ronda) Smith, all of North; a brother, Osborne Arant, of North; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Smith, 1551 Creek Mill Road, North. Memorials may be made to Bull Swamp Baptist Church.
