Eleanor M. Catalano, age 88, of Edwardsville, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born June 4, 1921, in Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Vincent and Catherine Spia Noto.
She married Sam S. Catalano on April 26, 1952, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She is survived by two sons: Sam G. Catalano of Hamel and Joseph F. Catalano of Edwardsville; one daughter: Dora Buckley, and husband Richard of Moro; one sister: Genevieve Noto of Edwardsville; four grandchildren: Stephen Catalano, and wife Molly, Andrea Catalano, Valerie Buckley and Rachel Buckley and one grandchild: Lucas Catalano.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Sam, John and Frank Noto and five sisters: Lena Marzuco, Elizabeth Macaluso, Sarah Macaluso, Marie Wisnasky and Martha Spavale.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Fr. Jeff Goeckner officiating. Interment will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
