Picture on page 591 of Coweta County Chronicles & 129 is a younger picture of
the couple. Educated in Monroe, Ga., then Mercer University while it was at
Penfield. He graduated from Mercer in 1852. He taught in Centerville, Wilkes
Co. before coming to Newnan in 1854 as the associate principal of the Newnan
Male Seminary. He was denied twice enlisted into the CSA, but the 3rd time he
was accepted and served from 1864 until the surrender. In 1866 he was head of
College Temple, then later returned to the Newnan Male Seminary. He was a
"faithful, painstaking, and imperial teacher for fifty years." Coweta County
Chronicles is full of details of his life.
