(special thanks to Sarah Fowler #47553917 for the following info) William C. Emerson enlisted in the Confederate States Army in Greenville, Alabama on 12 February 1863. It was reported he was captured at Peach Tree in Atlanta on July 1864 but official records only show him 3 April 1865 in the Macon, Georgia hospital. He gave his address as Pine Grove, Alabama. On 24 May 1865 he was paroled & signed oath in Montgomery, AL, described as 6 feet tall, dark complexion, dark hair & dark eyes. He was born 1826 in Jones County, Georgia. William C. Emerson lost a father and three brothers in the war to the 15th Alabama.
