The Newsom Cemetery is on privately owned land off of River Bend Road in Goss, Mississippi. There are large wooden gates to the cemetery. It is very overgrown. There are two tombstones on the ground, William M. Newsom and what is believed to be his second wife, Mary Wylie Newsom. His first wife was Mary Jane Jones, died 9 June 1856.
There are shallow spots where other graves are no longer marked.
His children by his first wife, Mary Ann Jones Newsom were:

William M. Newsom had an adopted son, Hugh, who had a son named Lewis.

William M. Newsom was the son of Isaac Newsom, Jr. and Mary Eliza "Polly" Lowe.

Isaac Newsom Jr. was the son of Isaac Newsom, Sr., born 1751 in Northampton, NC and Mary "Mollie" Dorth.

Isaac Newsom Sr. moved to Lawrence County, Mississippi by 1812, and his son, Isaac Newsom, Jr. followed by 1816. Isaac Newsom Jr. and wife Mary Polly Eliza Lowe Newsom were wonderful people. They had 11 children of their own, and were made guardians of the children of Isaac's brother, William, and of the children of Mary Polly Newsoms brother, Edmund Lowe. They raised all these children together. After Isaccs death, Mary Polly Newsom raised six of her grandchildren, after her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Newsom, Weathersby passed away.
