She married Wesley Lafferty on 7 Jul 1851 in Highland Co., OH.
They had a family of at least six children: Samuel; Henry W.; Eliza Belle; Euphemia Catherine (Stevens); Lydia Lorena; & Clara (Stroop).
The News-Herald (Hillsboro, OH) newspaper on 15 Sep 1892, published the following death notice: "Mrs. Mary Lafferty died at her residence on Saturday, September 3d, 1892. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her loss. Her remains were interred in the Barker cemetery on the following day."
Highland Co. Death Record Book 2 at the probate court includes a death record for Lucinda Lafferty with the death date of 3 Sep 1892. This entry must be for Mary and her first name was entered incorrectly. The death record indicates that she was 69 years old and died at Salem. Assuming she had celebrated her birthday in 1892, then she was born about 1823.
McBride's "Cemetery Inscriptions of Highland Co., OH," shows that Mary's tombstone reads: "Mary E., wife, d. Sept. 3, 1892, age 72 years." If her age at death has been transcribed correctly, then she was born about 1820.
Since her parents married 26 Mar 1822, we will assume she was born in 1823. Her age is not consistent in census records.
