BERNEICE B. DENNEY, 94, of Ossian, formerly of rural Allen County, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, 7:25 a.m., at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. She had worked for many years and retired from Lincoln National Life, Fort Wayne. She had attended and also served as the secretary of the Colony Heights Church of Christ for several years. She was a former member of the Markle Church of Christ. She had attended Lafayette Central School and later attended Lincoln Bible College. Born Sept. 29, 1918, in Eureka, Ill., she was a daughter of George H. and Freida (Kuntz) Smith. She married Othel M. Denney on Dec. 5, 1936; he preceded her in death on May 23, 1998. Survivors include five sons, Merlin O. (Judy) Denney, Robert E. (Linda) Denney and Richard A. (Joyce) Denney, all of Fort Wayne, Roland R. (Maryalice) Denney of Zanesville and Donald R. (Bonnie) Denney of New Haven; two sisters, Eileen Reddin of Shalimar, Fla. and Georgina Roth of Bluffton; a half brother, Walter C. Denney of Fort Wayne; and a half sister, Mildred Bear of Warren; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Smith and Ordy Smith; two stepbrothers, Marvin Denney and Clifford Denney; parents; and stepfather, Roscoe Denney. Funeral service is 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Minister Darryl Denney officiating. Interment in Hoverstock Cemetery, Zanesville.
