NILES - Mrs. Frances Marie Kistler, 89, sied at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Shephard of the Valley Lutheran Home.
Mrs. Kistler was born April 6, 1921, in Canonsburg, Pa., the daughter of Ralph and Sarah Lewis Turner, moving here as a child.
A 1938 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, she was a lifetine and active member of the Niles First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school, was on church council,was a lifetime member of the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church and was active with the former Women's Bible Study.
She had been employed by the Niles Schools as a secretary and also assisted in the kitchen for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She also assisted her husband in their family business. The Kistler Insurance Agency in the Niles Bank Building and on Robbins Avenue.
She truly enjoyed to shop, travel and spend her time enjoying her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities.
Frances is survived by her loving family, which includes her daughters, Maebeth (Timothy) Neher of Vermillion, Karlene (David) Durisdo of Annapolis, Md., and Rebecca M. (Michael) Mohn of Girard; six grandchildren, Jay, Darcy, sarah, Samuel, Nathaniel and Andrew; and six great-granchildren.
Her husband, Karl S. Kistler, whom she married Jan. 7, 1944, preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Kistler, on June 9, 1996, and a sister, Betty turner.
Funeral services were held in the Niles First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David MacDonald officiating.
