Known as George Heydlauff, he immigrated to Michigan from Germany with his parents and siblings in 1830. He married Mary B. Rounds in 1847; they resided in Ronald Township near Ionia Michigan where they raised seven children. Sometime between 1880 and 1890 he came to Washington State where he lived his remaining years. He was working in Elma, WA in 1900. In 1902 he was living at Govan when he died at Wilbur, Washington as the result of an accident. He is buried beside his youngest son, Fremont Heydlauff, 1867-1946.
