Mrs. Rachel Lyon Fleming, wife of the late Clark Fleming, of Clarion, after a short sickness passed away Friday, May 7, 1926, at her home on West Main Street, her demise being due to heart trouble following an attack of grippe in February which weakened her heart.

Rachel Lyon was the daughter of Jacob and Nancy Jane Ross Lyon and was born at Polk Furnace near Reidsburg, in Monroe township. She lived all her life in Clarion county.

She was united in marriage with Clark Fleming on June 25, 1872, the Rev. James S. Elder performing the ceremony and for many years they lived on their farm in Limestone township not far from Corsica. They removed to Clarion quite a number of years ago.

Mrs. Fleming was preceded in death by her husband some five or six years ago, but she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Alice Thompson Richard, Pittsburgh; Elmer L. Fleming, Dover, 0.; George G. Fleming, Los Angeles, Calif.; Clark Merle Fleming, Buffalo, N. Y.; and Miss S. Elizabeth Fleming, who kept the home for her mother and ministered to her up to the last.

She is also survived by two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two sisters, Mrs. Ella McCullough, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Hettie Moore, Cincinnati, 0.; and one brother, George C. Lyon, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Fleming was a sweet spirited Christian lady and was a member of the Presbyterian Church from youth. During a long period of invalidism she was sustained by Christian grace and fortitude and upheld by the comforting peace of her Savior.

Her funeral was held last Monday at 2:30 p.m. at her late home, the Rev. J. E. Hutchinson conducting the services assisted by Elder D. M. Lafferty, of Oil City, and her niece Rev. Miss Alma Broadhead, of Hartsville, N. Y., near Cornell sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." The interment was made in the Clarion cemetery.
