Mr. Chaplin was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Mattoon, a son of Roy and Maggie Ivey Chaplin. He was employed as a conductor for the New York Central Railroad for 20 years.
Surviving are his widow, Helen; a son, Ronald, of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Susan, at home; two grandchildren, and a brother, Wayne, of Seattle, Wash.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Moose Lodge and a former member of Local 234 AF or M.
Funeral services were held at the Schilling funeral home with Dr. A. Mont Massey officiating. Burial was at Dodge Grove cemetery.
Mrs. Florence Myers played organ selections including "Good Night, Good Morning" and "Beautiful Isle." Pallbearers were Thurman Storm, Joseph Finnegan, Roy Chaplin, Paul Wilkins, Harold Elliott and Don Sawyer.
