He was born on May 13, 1906 in Maplewood township, the son of Hans and Johanna Stensrude. He was baptized at Maplewood Lutheran Church in 1906 and and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran church on Aug 30, 1935.
On Jan. 5, 1932. he married Evelyn Olds at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. She died June 30, 1978. In 1981 he married Gladys Dale. She died on September 14, 1994.
He farmed in Star Lake Township and Friberg Township all of his life. He retired from farming in the 1960s. After retirement, he worked on green thumb projects. He also enjoyed playing guitar at social gatherings, fishing and had a mink trap line for many years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Fergus Falls.
Preceding him in death were his parents: six brothers, Anton, Olaf, Helmer, David, Melvin and John and three sisters, Anne Wick, Clara Stephenson and Tillie Emery.
Survivors include two daughters, Ervina (Mervin) Budke and Evelyn (Gaylen) Jorgenson, nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. pubiic prayer service at Olson Funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Service: 2 p m Sunday at St. Paul Lutheran church, rural Fergus Falls.
