Nov. 8, 1922 – Oct. 15, 2010

RALEIGH – Paul Felton Holder, 87, passed away Friday morning at his home after a lengthy period of declining health. He was born son to the late Lonnie and Lola West Holder in Lee County, the community of Swanns Station near Sanford. He attended Benhaven High School and served his country in the US Air Force, having flown 71 combat missions while stationed in Italy during World War II. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend and a devoted Christian. He was an active member of Athens Drive Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Paul married Pansy Bordeaux on Nov. 23, 1943 with whom he enjoyed sixty six years of marriage. Paul loved his vacation home at the NC Coast where he enjoyed fishing the waters of the White Oak River and Portsmouth Island. He also enjoyed traveling, and visited almost 50 states. He spent many hours with his friends. He worked with McCracken Supply for 23 years before becoming owner and operator of Holder TV Sales and Service at Five Points in Raleigh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only son, Gary Paul Holder, brothers, Arnold Holder and Franklin Holder and a sister, Gladys West.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 am Monday, October 18, 2010 at Athens Drive Baptist Church with a reception visitation to follow in the Fellowship Building.

Surviving his wife, Pansy B. Holder; sisters, Ruth Reavis and husband Don of Greensboro, Ruby Haskins and husband Calvin of Creedmoor and Rita Holder of Madison, IL; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Athens Drive Baptist Church, 1601 Athens Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606 or Liberty Hospice, 5017 Memory Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609.
