Mrs. Seth Doty.
Amanda J., daughter of William and Mary M. Hill, was born in Adair county, Kentucky, August 3, 1855, and died at Wichita Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, in the early morning of July 14, 1922, aged 66 years, 11 months and 19 days. Her childhood was spent in Kentucky until the age of fourteen when the family moved to Saline county, Missouri. She attended school in Kentucky and Missouri and thus prepared herself for the privileges of womanhood.

She was married to Mr. Seth Doty of Saline county, Missouri on the 20th day of June, 1880. For five years they remained in the old home neighborhood and in 1885 moved to Kansas, settling just west of Caldwell, and later in 1908 moving to town.

Mrs. Doty was the mother of five children, two of whom are living, Mrs. Fannie Martin, of Caldwell, and Aubrey Doty, of Corbin. She also leaves three grandchildren, two brothers, James T. Hill, Harwood, Missouri, and William W. Hill, Hudson, Colorado, and two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Naylor, Light, Ariz., and Susan C. Hill, Harwood, Missouri.

Mrs. Doty was widely and favorably known for her kindness, thoughtfulness and faithfulness in her home. She has been a sufferer for several years, but through it all has been a patient, trustful wife and mother.

In 1899 she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church of the Bailey school house neighborhood and has ever since lived a faithful and loving Christian life.

Funeral services were held from the home Sunday, July 16th, at three o'clock, Rev. Franklin C. Everitt of the Presbyterian church, officiating, and interment was made in the Caldwell cemetery.
