LaDonna Marie (Prudhomme) Murphy, age 70, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in the North Memorial Hospital, in Maple Grove, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Donna was born March 1, 1940, in Rochester, MN., to the late John and Stella (Norquist) Welliver. She grew up in Brainerd, Minnesota, and attended Brainerd High School. Donna married Leon Walker, at Brainerd, and together they had five children, who she dedicated her entire life to. In September 1974, she married Lawerence Prudhomme, and they lived in Erskine, MN. Donna was employed at the Morrison Eye Clinic, in Erskine, and later with the Ferrell Gas Company, in Crookston. She retired as the City Clerk of Erskine, in 2001. Larry passed away of cancer, in 1999. Donna and Larry, spent many precious years together, sharing endless memories with each other, their children, and grandchildren. She was also an avid bowler, in her younger years. In 2001, Donna met Judge Dennis Murphy, and they were united in marriage, in 2005. Donna felt so fortunate to be able to travel to so many places with Dennis. Some of their most cherished adventures, were trips to Hawaii, Europe, Washington, DC, and of course the many weekends at the Vagabond Campground, in Park Rapids.

Donna was incredibly loving, smart, funny, and was truly the heart of our family. Her friendly, vibrant smile, and strong and amazing personality, made it easy for her to make friends, wherever she went. She was simply a joy and inspiration to all who met her. Donna was always cooking delicious meals for her family and had many signature dishes, that were the cornerstone of all family get-togethers... you never left her home hungry.

Donna was devoted to, and loved being surrounded by her family. They were the most important part of her life and brought her so much joy. The love that she had given so freely to everyone in her family, created a well of essence and love in the hearts of all who surrounded her. She would go through great personal sacrifice to meet the needs of her family. This was evidenced at the death of her mother, Stella, when Donna was only twelve. She became 'mother,' to her three brothers, taking over the duties of raising them. This was the personification of her love. We cannot imagine our lives without her. The light that she brought to our family, gave us great strength, security, and unending support. She will be missed by all, but her spirit will live within us forever.

Come celebrate the life of our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Those who have been blessed by her kind and generous heart, include her husband, Judge Dennis Murphy, of Maple Grove, MN.; 5 children: Carrie (Tim) Prudhomme of Crookston, MN.; Gary (Angela) Walker of Anoka, MN.; Denise (Daniel) Ness of Erskine, MN.; John (Valerie) Walker of Crookston; and Jeffrey (Lauri) Walker of Erskine; 16 grandchildren: Dana (George) Widman, Andrea and Jenna Prudhomme; Eric (Tiffany) Walker, Brent (Nicole) Walker, Brent Walker, Gavin Walker, and Jerrel Enerson-Matthews; Dustin, Heidi, and Brittany Ness; Kallie and Kolton Walker; Whitney McMenamy, and Brett and Jacob Walker; and 4 great-grandchildren: George and Cecelia Widman, Scarlett Walker, and Cora Prudhomme. Donna also leaves several step-children, including: Renae (Stuart) Hesby, Sandy Hill, Terri Lind, Diane (Mike) Cirks, Kim (Rob) Jacobson, Marla (Rod) Olson, Sean (Roberta) Murphy, and Maj.
