He entered active service with the U.S. Navy on July 7, 1943 at Hanover, Pennsylvania.

He left Camp Rousseau, California on January 28, 1944 on the MS Henry L. Gants.

He later served aboard a converted aircraft carrier to September, 1945.

He received his discharge from the Navy on November 21, 1945 at Sampson, New York.

He was originally from East Berlin, Pennsylvania.

He was married to Mary Jane Barthel on July 20, 1940 at Leesburg, Virginia.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on November 12, 1969.
