Came From Russia In 1909
Mrs. Rose (Rosie) Lookofsky, owner of Lookofsky's Clothing Store, 131 S. 2nd St., died at 6 a.m. Saturday at her home, 251 Sycamore Drive. She had been in ill health for some time.
Mrs. Lookofsky came here as a young girl from Russia 50 years ago with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Baskin. She was the widow of Louis Lookofsky, well known Paducah merchant, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1943.
Since her husband's death, Mrs. Lookofsky and her son-in-law, Bud Glasser operated the business.
Mrs. Lookofsky was a member of Temple Israel and a member of the Temple Sisterhood.
Survivors include two sons, Ben Lookofsky of Paducah and Leo Lookofsky of Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Michelson and Mrs. Bud Glasser, both of Paducah; a brother, Morris Baskin of Paducah; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Marshall of Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Roth Funeral Chapel with Rabbi Max Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Temple Israel Cemetery.
Pallbearers, all nephews, will be Elliot Baskin, Nat Baskin, Nathan Smith, Barnard Baskin, Louis Lookofsky and David Lookofsky.
