Clyde was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and friends, her home and gardening. She loved to travel in North Carolina and create beautiful gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Frederick Cross and Issac Glover Cross and three sisters, Audrey Cross Cousins, Zeffie Cross Smith and Betsy Rose Cross Johnson.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Byrd, her husband Charles of Chapel Hill and their daughter Elizabeth (Steve) Jackson of Issaquah, WA, and Jayna (Brook) Patterson of High Point; Sara Dobson and her husband David of Chapel Hill and their sons, Joel Dobson of Wilmington, Steven Dobson of Charlotte and Bryan (Andria) Dobson of Scotland Neck. Great-grandchildren Zoe and Ian Jackson, Myles and Nolan Patterson and step-great-grandchildren David and Caroline Dobson. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Cross Brown of Durham, and Mildred Cross Biscardi of Norwood PA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Following a graveside service on Monday, July 5th at 11:00 at Old Chapel Hill Cemetery, Raleigh Road, the family will greet friends at Mrs. Walker's home and in her garden, 610 Churchill Drive, Chapel Hill, NC
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Marie Watlington, Teresa Farrington, and Janet Beasley for their compassionate care. The family also wishes to thank the caring staff at Duke Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough.
