From the Rutland Daily Herald, Jan. 21, 1891:
Proctor - John Hewitt, who has been a resident of this place for over 20 years, died this morning after an illness of some weeks' duration. Mr. Hewitt, whose wife died some three or four years ago, leaves eight children, four under age. He has been, during all the years of his residence here, a hard working and industrious man, having been steadily employed in the marble works here. He was a brother to the Mr. Hewitt who died in Rutland the other day and who was one of the veteran workmen in the Howe Scale company's establishment.
