OBITUARY:
Wade Cochran of Catoosa passed on Monday, July 18, 1994 at his home. He was 83. Mr. Cochran was born November 26, 1910 to George and Julia Davis Cochran. He was a lifelong Catoosa native and attended the old Blue Cut School. He was of Cherokee heritage, he was a direct descendant of General Stand Watie. Wade and Meta Frost were married in Bixby in 1929. They made their first home in rural Catoosa where he was a rancher. During World War II he worked at the power plant in Pryor. Later he worked as a supervisor for McDonnell Douglas, retiring in 1981 after 28 years there. He never retired from ranching, continuing to raise Hereford cattle until his death. He was also known as a helper in the community, where both he and his wife worked in building several community churches including the Assembly of God and the Methodist Church, where she played the organ for services for a number of years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Thomas and Wade Harold Cochran. Survivors include: His wife, Meta of the home. Four daughters: Lena Parker of Tulsa, Maudine Choate of Claremore, Cozetta Farley of Catoosa and Glenna Stout of Sand Springs. One sister: Gladys Stout of Claremore. Other: 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Catoosa. Burial was held in Dick Duck Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service.
