Alvin Grant Anderson served with distiction in World War II in the Pacific Islands. He was wounded twice in combat and was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, and the Philippines Campaign Medal.

His brother, 2nd Lt Woodrow Wilson "Jeff" Anderson, died on Okinawa in 1945 as a result of wounds received.

He was a skilled carpenter and worked and lived most of his life in Las Vegas, Nev, and Ogden, Utah.
