He is the oldest of three sons born to Michael and Irene Billys.
Charles was raised in Shippensburg until the age of 18, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
He served our wonderful Country in the Asiatic - Pacific Theatre of World War II at New Caledonia. He was honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal as a Sergeant in 1945.
In 1946, Charles married Evangeline Rentos Billys in Reading.
He was a gifted violinist who offered his services to both church and civic organizations.
Charles was also an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill where he served as a Board Member.
He was a Life Member of the American - Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction for over forty years, the American Legion, Wormleysburg the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dillsburg, the William S. Snyder Lodge 756 Free & Accepted Masons, where he served as Worshipful Master, and played violin for the Zembo Temple String Band and Marching Band where he served as Conductor for over ten years.
Charles retired as an Insurance Salesman in 1988. He worked for Prudential, Metropolitan, Cosmopolitan, Columbia, and Anderson Life Insurance Companies, where he developed expertise both as an Agent and Consultant.
He will be remembered as an honorable gentleman, always with an upbeat attitude and a smile on his face. Truly a pleasure to be around.
Charles recently spent his latter years shooting pool with his friends at the West Shore Senior Citizens Center in New Cumberland.
He will be remembered mostly for his fighting spirit and positive attitude in life.
