According to her Missouri death certificate #17974, Sarah Ann SHIRLEY was born 26d 12m 1837 in Hendricks Co, Indiana the daughter of Henry D. & Mary Ann (JELL) CARTER who were both natives of Virginia.
In 1m 2017 contributor Cindy Crigler (#48526683) added that Sarah was the daughter of Henry Deadmund & Mary Ann (JELF) CARTER and added the link to Mary. After Henry Deadmund CARTER died in 1838 Mary Ann (JELF) CARTER remarried to Thomas S. ROBERTS. Mary herself was actually born in Kentucy, probably in Cumberland County, but the JELF family had came to Kentucky from Madison County, Virginia.
