LAUREL — Roy Pace

Roy (Bear) Pace, 74, of Laurel, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Lake Side Living Center in Quitman.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with interment in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Laurel. Rev. Kenny McMinn and Rev. Chad Landrum will officiate.

Mr. Pace was a retired oil field worker, attended Life Church, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and owned and operated Bears Catfish Corral. He enjoyed attending church and visiting shut-ins and volunteering with the Christian Food Mission.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Pace Sr. and Goldie Bynum Pace; and a brother, Henry Pace Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Pace of Laurel; three daughters, Tracy Pace Sumrall and husband David of Sandersville, Karen Pace Duplantis and husband Chad of Houma, La., and Lori Pace of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Samantha Sumrall and Chase McMillan; one great-grandchild, Leri Delk; and sister, Gloria Sitton and husband Ted of Abilene, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Howard Houston, Patrick Gadbois, David Speed, Jack Williamson, Harold Bynum and Joe Stringer. Honorary pallbearer will be Kent Krider.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National Parkinson's Association.
