Henry William Stephens and Elizabeth Jane Larkin married 28 Apr 1860 in Dent County, Missouri

"Uncle" Henry Stephens, one of Dent county's oldest and best known citizens. Passed to his reward tonight at 9 o'clock. Death occurred at the home of his son, Dudley, six miles south of Salem.

The cause of death was old age and hardening of the arteries. He was 82 years of age. His wife, Elizabeth Jane, passed away a good many years ago. Since that time he has been living with his son, Dudley. We are informed that he is survived by 10 living children. Those residing in Dent county are: John William, Anvil Fielding, Joseph Henry, Robert Donald, Doll Dorse.

His son George and daughter Ida Pewitt, reside in Montana. The remains were being held until their arrival. Interment to be made in the vault constructed by Mr. Stephens several years ago on his farm. He is survived by one brother, "uncle" Fielding Hyson Stephens, another well known Dent man. He was the uncle of Prosecuting Attorney John M. Stephens of Salem.
