Mrs. Elmira Stewart, aged 84, died at Spencer, Tuesday, February 9th, from disease incident to old age. The remains were brought to the Pomroy Funeral home here and prepared for burial. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Hall, Burning Springs, Mrs. Jim Criss, Creston and Mrs. J. H. Mills, Elizabeth, W. Va. Funeral services were held at Monroe Bend, where burial was made today (Thursday) at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. A. M. Hammer officiating. (Wirt County Journal, Friday, Feb. 12, 1937)
