Samuel Porter (1809-1892) born MA - Congregational minister working with American Home Missionary Society served in Bradford, McKean Co, PA, Black Creek, New York, Crete, Illinois, among other places - trained at Andover/Newton Seminary Class of 1834, - Son of William Porter and Sally Jones.

First married Eliza Sage - (1809 - 1837) and had two children - Amelia Porter Niles (1835 - 1870) and Owen Porter (1836 - ) Owen's death date falls between 1850 - 1860 - he is shown in 1850 census but not in 1860 census. Eliza's death date seems to vary - 1836/1837

Second marriage to Emily Morrell Cushing of Thetford, Vermont - Their children were:

Theodore Arthur Porter (1838 - 1908) born in New York - (buried Prairie Home Cemetery Waukesha, Wisconsin) - Civil War veteran(NY Volunteers) apparently a teacher at some time but primarily Congregational minister - served in Michigan, Mazomanee, WI, Maquoketa, IA, Crete, Illinois,Rock Creek, WI, Lynxville, WI, circuit minister Iowa and Wisconsin.
