Changed his name to Almon John.
John Almon Rockwell (later changed name to Almon John) was born in Waterville, New Brunswick on March 25, 1816 and died at Moro, Maine on August 25, 1893. It is believed that he moved to the State of Maine in his youth. He was married twice. His first wife was Francis Lorin who was born 7/4/1831, she died 10/30/1868 which was 10 days after Samuel was born. His second wife was Nancy (Stockford) Prosser, a widow, who was born 9/15/1837. She died 5/27/1887.
(The following information was received from Everett A. Rockwell, son of Ellbridge (Rockwell, son of John A. or Almon J Rockwell.)
My Grandfather, first named John Almon, which he later changed to Almon John is believed, by some, to have moved to Maine, USA in his youth. This I do not believe. I think he came to Maine about 1880 soon after his first wife, Francise Lorin, died. There, in Moro, Maine, he married his second wife, Nancy Stockford Prosser, a widow who was born in 1837 and died in May 1887. Almon John died, and was buried in Moro, Maine in 1893, two years after I was born. I have visited his burial place many times. By his first wife Almon John had nine children, and by his second wife he had four sons. "

Inscription
"Lo on a narrow neck of land,
Twixt two unbounded seas I stand.
Yet how insensible a point of time a moments space,
Removes me to yon heavenly place or shuts me up in hell."
