Alice E. Drish, 84, of Moline, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, with prayers at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary conducted by the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society at 3:45 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Seton or Alleman schools.

Alice E. Wendell was born July 1, 1915, in Moline, the daughter of Lyman and Charlotte "Lottie" Hamer Wendell. She married Eugene R. Drish Aug. 30, 1944, in Moline. He died Dec. 2, 1984.

She was employed as a cook for five years in the food service department at Westerlin Hall at Augustana College in the mid-1970s. In earlier years, she had worked at Bituminous Insurance Co., Rock Island, for 12 years until 1957.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a Gold Star Member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, was financial secretary for the Catholic Order of Foresters, was a member of the Catholic Women's League, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Rock Island, and Franciscan Hospital Auxiliary, and was active as a volunteer cook and known for her recipes. She also served as a leader and co-leader with the Girl Scouts for seven years.

Alice idolized her grandchildren and enjoyed the time spent with them.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Novella and Kirk Wicks, Moline; grandchildren, Douglas Wicks and Natalie Wicks, of Moline; and a sister, Mildred Wendell Mortonson, Silvis.
