Harry Acklam, age 7, died on June 4th, 1896, killed by dogs from the property of the Beebe Manufacturing Company of Racine, Wisconsin while picking flowers in a nearby field as he was on his way home from school.

His memorial gravestone at the Mound Cemetery in Racine is engraved with these words:

"Our home is now a quiet place; a little voice was stilled. It leaves a void within our home, which never can be filled."
